Answers to Rules Quiz XVII (2010 - 2)

 

The winner of the 2nd Rules Quiz of 2010 and the $35 Maplewood Gift Certificate is Kenny McCollim.  He answered 6 out of possible 7 questions correctly and was drawn out as a lucky winner.  The questions were simple but little tricky once again.  The correct answers for the quiz are given below…  The next Rules Quiz is on the next page.  Hope you participate again.  Good Luck!

 

1. You accidentally run over a golf club and damage it with your cart, can you replace it during the round?

 

B. No (Decision 4-3/1 – not damaged during normal course of play)

 

2. May you use a 48-inch driver for extra distance (the standard is 45”)?

 

A. Yes (The limit is 48” – Appendix II)

 

3. During a tournament, you may remove a scuffed ball from play at any time?

 

B. No (Rule 5-3 – the ball must be visible cut, cracked or out of shape)

 

4. You can carry more than 14 clubs in your bag provided the extra clubs aren’t used during the round?

 

B. No (Rule 4-4a – Maximum of 14 clubs)

6. To hit a drive over some trees, you may use a tee that is 4” long?
