General
· In stroke play competitions all putts must be holed
· All water hazards are lateral water hazards
· When used, “winter rules” will be conducted according to the PNGA “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” Local Rule. See Rule posted in the clubhouse (or www.maplewoodmensclub.com)
· The use of distance-measuring devices is permitted (Decision 14-3/0.5)
· The “naturalized” Audubon sanctuary area (defined by “knee high” grass [taller than intended rough cut]) is a lateral water hazard. Please proceed under Rule 26 – Water Hazard (Including Lateral Water Hazards).
· A ball embedded in its own pitch-mark through the green, except in the hazards or bunkers, may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay not nearer the hole
· When in doubt as to a procedure play two balls (Rule 3-3. Doubt as to Procedure).
Hole #2 & #6
If a ball comes to rest in the lateral water hazard, as an additional option under Rule 26, a player may drop a ball on the ball drop.
Hole #7 & #10
The area between the cart path and out of bounds and between the orange poles/lines is considered part of the cart path. Note: Out of bounds on both holes is defined by the cyclone fence; the protective fence on #10 is out of bounds.
Hole #10 & #11
The area around the pump house is lateral water hazard. Please proceed under Rule 26 – Water Hazard (Including Lateral Water Hazards).
It is a question of fact whether a ball that has not been found after having been struck toward a water hazard is in the hazard. In order to apply this Rule, it must be known or virtually certain that the ball is in the hazard. In the absence of such knowledge or certainty, the player must proceed under Rule 27-Ball Lost or Out of Bounds
Hole #10 & #13
If a ball comes to rest in the area that surrounds #11 tee box (defined by blue stakes) a player may drop a ball without penalty at the ball drop.
Hole #15
The old cart path left of the fairway is an integral part of the course. No relief unless specifically marked.
Hole #18
The out of bounds left of the fairway is defined by the ground wire of the fence. The player does not receive free relief from the fence, posts or the concrete bases holding the posts. (Decision 24/3).
